In addition to pursuing philosophical research on specialised research topics in my field, I have a substantial track record of interdisciplinary collaborations, research projects, and independent, externally funded research programs. At an earlier stage of my career, I created and led research groups of senior and early-career academics for over a decade, working collaboratively on set research questions with the support of several national and international funding bodies (the British Academy (2008-11); the European Research Council (2011-16); the Templeton World Charity Foundation (2014-17); the Arts and Humanities Research Council (2017-19); and the Leverhulme Trust (for two different projects, in 2007-8 and 2018-21).
I find it very productive to interact with colleagues and students at different institutions, and value the opportunities of research stays facilitating collaboration.
In this public talk I discuss the value of studying and researching ancient philosophy today.
